Changing your server settings
Last updated July 29, 2026
Your Palworld server's game rules — difficulty, rates, PvP, guild limits, the join password — are edited as forms in Rebetchi Manage. This article covers where those forms are, how to find one setting among many, and what has to happen before a change takes effect.
1. Where the settings are
Sign in at manage.rebetchi.com, open your server, and choose Game Settings in the left sidebar.
The editor shows 69 settings in six tabs: Server, World, Rates, Combat, Guild and Base. Each one is a labelled control — a switch, a slider, a dropdown or a text box — with the game's raw config key printed underneath it, so a value copied from a Palworld guide can be matched to the right field.
You do not edit PalWorldSettings.ini yourself, and there is no file access. Rebetchi writes that file on the server from what you save here, and rewrites it before every launch.
2. Finding one setting
Use the search box above the tabs. It matches the setting's name, its raw config key, and its description line, and it ignores spacing, punctuation and capitalisation. Every word you type has to match, so extra words narrow the results.
Searching for the words your group uses often works even when Palworld's own name is different: "drop on death" finds Death penalty, whose key is DeathPenalty.
While a search is active the tabs are hidden, because results come from every group. Each result shows its group as a badge instead.
3. Saving
Changed fields get a dot beside the label, and the tab they live in shows a count. A bar appears at the bottom with the number of unsaved changes and two buttons: Discard, which puts everything back, and Save changes.
Only the settings you actually changed are sent. Values are checked before anything is queued — a number outside the field's range, or a value that is not one of the allowed options, is refused and the editor shows the reason. Nothing is applied when a save is refused.
4. Changes take effect on the next restart
Palworld reads its configuration once, when the server process starts. That is why every field in the editor carries a Restart badge, and why saving shows: "Settings saved. They take effect the next time the server restarts."
Until that restart happens, your saved values are stored but the running server is still using the old ones. The editor shows what the server will use at its next launch, not what the live process is running right now. A setting you have never changed shows the game's own default.
To apply your changes:
- Use Restart in the left sidebar. It is available while the server is online. You will be asked to confirm, because players who are online will be disconnected while the server restarts.
- If the server is stopped, press Start instead — your saved settings are picked up when it boots.
If you would rather not interrupt anyone, open Automated Tasks and add a scheduled restart. You choose daily or weekly, a time, and a timezone. Players are warned in-game 15, 5 and 1 minute before, and the server is shut down gracefully. You can also have a backup taken first.
5. Settings Rebetchi manages
Seven settings are ours and are not shown in the editor at all: the admin password, the public IP and game port, the REST API on/off switch and its port, and the two RCON settings. They come from how your server was provisioned, they are rewritten before every launch, and a save that tried to include one would be rejected. Searching for them returns nothing — that is expected, not a fault.
Crossplay is also ours. Your server is configured for Steam, Xbox, PS5 and Mac, and there is no control for that set in the editor. The Allowed platform field in the Server tab is a single value rather than a list, and it is not how crossplay is configured — if you want to change which platforms can connect, email support@rebetchi.com instead of changing that field.
6. Four fields that are easy to misread
- Server name is how your server appears in Palworld's in-game Community Servers list. It is cosmetic. It does not change your join address.
- List in Community Servers is on by default. Xbox and PS5 players cannot type in an address, so this listing is the only way they can find your server. Turning it off makes it invisible to them.
- Co-op guests (host worlds) is not your server's player limit. Max players is, and Palworld's ceiling is 32.
- Region is a text tag shown next to your community-list entry. It does not move where your server is hosted.
7. If something looks wrong
A banner reading "Showing Palworld default values" means the editor could not load your live configuration. Saving still works, but check the values on screen before you save over them.
If a setting you saved is not in effect after a restart, email support@rebetchi.com with your server name and the setting. The panel has no per-change history for game settings yet, so we look it up on our side.
Still stuck? Email support@rebetchi.com and tell us your server name — we can see the logs from here.
